I realised in class today that our blood type plays a very important role in helping us pick the right diet plan, I am of O+ blood type and people with my blood type are often asked to eat 5 main meals per day as skipping meals aren’t good for our blood type, secondly type O people should eat lots of meat which are high in protein and lessen our intake of wheat or grains which means lower carbohydrate intake. Even through exercising; vigorous exercising like aerobics or dancing should be opted compared to brisk walking and such. So looking at all this I think my current eating style and exercise regime seem to fit my type O self quite perfectly.
The word moderation has a lot of meaning to a lot of different people but to me this word is the key factor to living a healthier and more prosperous life, nothing in this world can be good for us if we have too much of it or too little of it, sodium and fat are among the 2 major components in our diets this days. Being a college student living away from home we tend to eat out more often and this in return can cause us to not be able to control the amount of fat and sodium intake we get in a day. Our brain are made of 60% of fat; so imagine if we were to adopt a diet that has eliminates all form of fat, this could cause us to be under nourishing our brain and what happens through this is that our brain is not able to function at its maximum capacity and through this we are more prone to depression and other mental related problems. But imagine if we had a high in fat diet, then we are exposing ourselves to cardiovascular diseases or obesity which in return will bring about so many other problems which will affect us.
My blog has tragically come to an end; through this 3 months I would say I realise that making even the slightest changes in our lives can truly have a huge impact on how we foresee our future. It doesn’t start in a day but a little at 1 time. It becomes like a tough decision that we have to make, changing our eating habit, pre-planning our diet to suit our body and such. The pettiest matters tend to be the one that carries the heaviest impact on us. Sedentary lifestyle is truly something we can fall into so unconsciously and to get out of it all we have to do is start moving. Eating fruits and fibres’ may seem difficult because were never at home but the fact is, all this are around us at all time all we have to do is spend a little time paying attention and making effort to get it.
Through this journey I would say I see visible results in me, I feel healthier and am more conscious and aware of my choices. As my favourite saying goes,
ALLS WELL WILL ENDS WELL

Having met with accident 2 weeks ago truly had a toll on me, I couldn’t do much walking and sedentary lifestyle seemed like the only best option I had. To make matters worse the painkillers prescribed to me was making hungry at all hours of the day, on an average day I would be eating 5 meals. But now after having it all regulate again I am slowly getting back to my old self, started my regime of dancing again but kind of worried as it was ankle that was hurt during the accident and I wouldn’t want to hurt it again with strenuous activity, but the simple feeling of being mobile again has had a tremendous affect on me. In the beginning I was afraid of putting to much pressure on it so I hold back from dancing and in return I forced myself to do a lot walking and sit ups, it did help but because this activities aren’t my favourite I wasn’t able to push myself to complete a 1 hour session but since the beginning of this week my usual regime of 2 hours dancing is back and it has truly made me feel better.
Apart from that my diet has also taken a better twist; my greatest heartfelt gratitude for Kim Fah’s mum and Karthi who is my brothers girlfriends mum, it is due to this 2 lovely ladies kind effort to make me good home made healthy meals that I am able to keep up a good and stable diet. Another habit I have adopted is stocking fruits in my room which I have always thought of as ridiculous to do but now that I am doing it I think it is the best habit I have ever had. Waking up in the morning with my favourite banana [the long type not short wants] and instant oat drink is almost like heaven.
Apart from all this me and girlfriends did a little test on ourselves this weekend, a stamina test, we were put in an empty area which we were later told was the re-enactment of a thriller movie where the assailant was supposedly searching and is hunting us down and that we are given an estimated time of 30 minutes maximum to find a way out. The moment the clock started; we all started running and this empty area we were in was a huge 4 level building and we were at the top meaning we had to run down 4 levels jus to check if there was an exit available. Through the whole process i realised things body shape isn’t an indication of how strong or fast a person can be, all of us had different body shapes and lifestyles but we all ended up dying in the end because we were put of breath and even of we were hiding our panting was so loud it was almost crazy to not be noticed. So the conclusion of the night is that we all have very low stamina.

3 weeks 2 go
It’s been 2 months 6 days since I started my new year resolution, this year top of my list was loosing weight. I wasn’t looking to loose all my fat and standing all stick like but instead I wanted to tackle this problem from a healthier perspective, as a healthy being we aren’t suppose to be underweight or overweight but instead on the healthier more balance side, for this I had to first check my BMI result which proved I was a little on the heavy side.
So next what I did was to consult a doctor and a dietician (who isn’t fully qualified at the moment but will in a year time), from the doctor I realised that my family history and diet plan usually consist of a lot of deep fried food and cardiovascular disease and even liver cancer was among the dark spots in my family’s health history, next it was my turn to check my diet plan, I realised that sugar wasn’t really a necessity to me, I could go on for a month straight without any additional sugar fix [sweets – ice-cream- candy] and carbohydrate in my account is usually taken in very moderate amount, rice and white bread are occasional meals for me cause I’m a huge noodle and pasta fan. So with all this in mind I realised first hand that my biggest enemy was “FAST FOOD”.
How do I tackle this problem? for those who don’t know me, fast food is like my staple meal because its cheap – fast – and easy . These days fast food is no longer a snack or guilty pleasure instead it becomes my meal. So how do I prevent myself consuming it?
I start from my basic,
1) Make a dare with my friends [whom i spend 70% of my time with], if I’m caught eating fast food, they are rewarded RM 100.
2) Pick a diet that was suitable with my blood type which in this case was eating 5 proportional meals and not skipping any meal
3) Take the stairs; fact of the matter is, exercising isn’t only about going to the gym or stressing for an hour in a park but simple task like walking too could make up for it. So I quit using the lift and have been enjoying the company of the staircase.
I started all this almost 2 moths ago and the results were magnificent but not really at my target yet, I realised through my diet plan that different people cater to different diets and nobody can actually find 1 particular diet plan that is perfect for everyone. Thus far for me, simply substituting deep fried food with pan fry or boil or grill or baked has helped me.
I still have 3 weeks to reach my target and I am a little behind schedule.
Alls well will end well.
